Countertenor Iestyn Davies last night received the 2013 Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Young Talent (2013).

The presentation was made to Davies by the Circle's Music Section chair Guy Dammann on stage at the Barbican Hall, in front of a packed and delighted audience who had come to hear Davies and other soloists perform Handel's Messiah with the Academy of Ancient Music.

Presented each year to musicians under the age of 35, the Outstanding Young Talent awards are intended to recognise both achievement and promise across three categories: Singer, Instrumentalist, and Conductor or Composer. Composer/conductor Ryan Wigglesworth and pianist Yevgeny Sudbin are the other two recipients of this year's awards.
