Upon her election, Jane Crowther said, “I don’t take the responsibility of chair lightly, especially in a climate of shrinking film criticism and the threat of AI, but I hope to take the circle forward as a useful resource, a champion for all our members and a community that provides connection, support and insight. I hope that I can ensure the Film section of the Critics’ Circle continues to be a badge of merit to members but also a place of community.”

Guy Lodge has been elected as the new Vice Chair, taking over the role from Jane Crowther. Lodge is a South African-born, London-based freelance writer who is currently the UK film critic for leading industry publication Variety and a weekly home entertainment columnist for The Observer. He is a BAFTA member, chair of the BIFA nomination committee, and a regular contributor to The Guardian, Sight & Sound, Attitude and the BBC World Arts Hour.

Linda Marric has been elected as the new Honorary Secretary, taking over the role from Karen Krizanovich. Marric is a film critic and interviewer. She has written extensively about film and TV over the last decade for outlets such as The Jewish Chronicle, The Daily Mirror, The Sun,  HeyUGuys and countless other publications.

The Film section wishes to thank former Chair Rich Cline for his significant contributions and leadership during his tenure for the last 4 years.

The Section would also like to extend its gratitude to outgoing Honorary Secretary Karen Krizanovich for her dedicated service.

The London Critics’ Circle Film Section remains committed to celebrating cinematic excellence and providing thoughtful and independent critical perspectives.
